Paste Papers Old and New with Michael Burke
Sunday 20 October – Monday 21 October (2 Days)
Course cost: $250
Paste Papers were made popular in the mid 1700’s by the Moravian Sisters of Herrnhut in Saxony. In this workshop Michael will introduce you to the methods, materials and patterns used on their original papers. Using natural earth pigments and a few simple tools used by the Sisters, you will reproduce each of their original designs using the same colours, patterns, freehand brush strokes and tooling. On the second day Michael will introduce you to a range of techniques for creating modern paste papers. Using various combs, stamps, rollers and other mark-making tools, you will make everything from simple pulled papers, to the highly regular striped patterns.
Non-refundable deposit of $100. Full payment due by the 31st July
Material fee to be advised. Payable to the tutor in cash on the day
